F 18.47 n1 Possession Of Counterfeiting Apparatus (PC 480).
The term “bills” as used in PC 480 refers to “our paper currency”. (People v. Bedilion (62) 206 CA2d 262, 269 [24 CR 19].) The intent of the statute is to prevent fraud in the passing of counterfeit forms of gold, silver and bank notes or bills by prohibiting the possession of apparatus intended for such purpose. Accordingly, the term “bills” as used in PC 480, includes “Federal Reserve notes.” (People v. Ray (96) 42 CA4th 1718 [50 CR2d 612].)
